Lemon Water: My New Healthy Habit

I don’t know about you but I have never been a big fan of drinking water. Yep, there I said it! It’s just such a chore to me and not something I voluntarily want to do or effortlessly think of. But what I do know is that when I do drink water consistently, I see positive changes in my energy levels, my skin health, and in many other areas. One of the tricks that got me into drinking more water everyday was – you guessed it – drinking lemon water!

What is lemon water, you ask? Literally just water with a few sliced lemons in it. Sounds simple right? It is! But the benefits of doing this are plentiful!

The Healthy Benefits from Drinking Lemon Water Every Day:

1) Your skin will become clearer

When you drink lemon water, not only are you hydrating your skin with the water but you’re also consuming the vitamin C from the lemon which produces collagen! Collagen is the protein that is the major component of connective tissues like skin and cartilage!

2) Healthy pH balance – Your body will become more alkaline

Lemon is acidic in its natural state but because it is anionic, it has a chemical reaction in our bodies which take it from a 2 pH level to 7 pH level! Water also has 6.5 to 8.5 pH level so you can only imagine how healthy this is for considering the highest pH level is 14!

Keeping your body in an alkaline state also prevents diseases as most diseases only occur when your body is an acidic state (low ph level).

3.) Gives You Mental Clarity

The combo of water an lemon gives your brain a boost! Because our bodies are made up of 75% water, when we are fully hydrated, our brains operating at higher capacity. When the brain is receiving the hydration it needs, it delivers nutrients faster and also connects our synapses to our neurons faster! Now you might start to notice that when you are fatigued for no reason, you are usually dehydrated as well! There is also potassium in lemons which is an additional nutrient for the brain.

4.) Improves Disgestion

Drinking Lemon water definitely boosted my metabolism! Drinking water obviously helps food get digested faster, but the acidity of the lemon adds in extra help in breaking it down!

5.) Higher Energy Level

Lemon also increases your energy level as it carries a lot of energy from being negatively charged!

6.) It just tastes better!

Honestly, the first reason I ever tried lemon water was because it made me want to drink water in the first place! Not only is it more visually appealing, it also tastes better! The citrusy fresh scent of the lemon just makes me feel better! And it was easy to build a habit out of it.
