For weight-loss!
Hey y’all and welcome back! Every time that I fall of the fitness bandwagon there are a few things that I like to do get myself back in the game. This spicy cabbage soup has been a miracle worker in my life! Every time I decide to do a detox with it, I lose anywhere from 7 to 10 pounds in a week! The main thing that I LOVE about this particular detox is that you don’t have to starve yourself! You can actually eat as much cabbage soup as you want! There are a few rules on what else you can eat each day (which I will describe down below) but believe me when I say that this is a great way to kick-start your new healthy routine.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 whole green cabbage
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 10-15 green beans, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 10 baby carrots, whole or chopped
- 1 shallot, chopped
- 32 ounces can of roasted, diced tomatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- One pouch of powdered Beef Bouillon
- ***Sazon Caliente (THE SPICINESS!!)
Badia Sazon Caliente Seasoning Spice, 5.75 Ounce – 12 per case.
Knorr Granulated Bouillon, Beef, 7.9 oz
Preparation:
1) First you want to cut and dice the onions, shallot, carrots, and green beans.
2) Cut the cabbage into thin slices. I usually this by first cutting it half, and then slicing it from the inside to the outside of it.
3) Then heat up a 5.5 quart pot on low heat. Add a table spoon of olive oil and let the oil get hot for about 2 minutes.
I use a pot like this one:
4) Once the oil heats up, throw in the chopped onions, shallots, carrots and green beans. Mix them about every two minutes or so and let simmer for about 5 min max. Then you can add in the cabbage. Keep in mind that the raw cabbage takes up a lot space at first so make sure there is enough room in the pot for it!
Then add in the diced, roasted tomatoes. The liquid from the diced tomatoes should become the broth of the soup. Allow it all to cook in medium heat for another 5 minutes. Once the cabbage softens up and the volume in the pan begins to go down – then you can start adding in the seasoning.
5) Now, I usually add the seasoning (salt and pepper, beef bouillon, *Sazon caliente) and taste it to see if I like it – then I can add more salt or seasoning depending on what I like. Or add in a bit of water if the flavor is too powerful. I suggest you do the same. Keep in mind that the Sazon caliente is the key ingredient that makes my soup spicy and adds some “flay-va” (AKA…. flavor)
6) Once you get the seasoning to your liking, let the soup simmer on medium heat for about 5 more minutes and wala!! You now have your spicy cabbage soup!
I usually eat a lot of the soup and my family always asks if they can have some (because it tastes and smells so good!) so I end up having to make another batch throughout the week. If you’re making this soup just for you, it should last you all week!
Foods you can eat during the week:
- Day 1: Only fruits (no bananas!)
- Day 2: Only veggies (that are not starchy)
- Day 3: Both fruits and veggies
- Day 4: Bananas and milk only
- Day 5: Lean meats / protein and tomatoes
- Day 6: Lean meats and veggies
- Day 7: Brown rice, fruit juices and veggies
Final tip: DRINK LOTS OF WATER! You will be losing water weight on this detox so make sure you are staying hydrated. It will also help you with losing weight and flushing out all those toxins!
Also, remember that is an extreme diet and should only be done for a week at max. The best way to truly become healthier is through slow progression. This detox is just a good way to start the change!
Let me know how you like it and how the detox works for you!
